Google Photos Locked Folder option Goes Cross-Device Back Up

In today’s digital world, taking a photo of memorable moments or events has become an integral part of daily life. Similarly, we often need to take a snape from our driver’s license or other important documents for future reference.

Google Photos empowers us to take charge of the photos we share, store, or view within your photo collection. It also authorizes us to view our photos across devices, including on desktop computers in our browser.

A few years ago, Google introduced the Locked Folder feature for Android devices – a secure sanctuary protected by a passcode designed to house your most sensitive photos and videos on your device. These discreet files won’t surface within your photo gallery or other applications. Now, Google has the expansion of this feature – the ability to back up your Locked Folder, granting you access to these exclusive memories across all your devices using your passcode. Furthermore, you can now establish and utilize the Locked Folder on iOS devices and the web.

Photos and videos in your Locked Folder remain discreet, concealed from view anywhere else within the application. You won’t find them in your photo grid, Memories, albums, or even when conducting searches in Google Photos. By enabling backup for the Locked Folder, you can access this content on any of your devices, provided you sign in to Google Photos and unlock the folder using your device’s passcode. As always, rest assured that all the content you safeguard in Google Photos is fortified by one of the world’s most advanced security infrastructures. If you opt not to utilize Locked Folder’s backup capabilities, you still possess the choice to store content exclusively within the Locked Folder on your device.

Google’s commitment to putting you in control of your photos and privacy has revamped and simplified the settings page in Google Photos. This redesign streamlines finding and adjusting your privacy controls and other settings. The new layout replaces the single settings page with easy-to-navigate sections for privacy, backup, sharing, notifications, and more. This enhanced settings page is now available in Google Photos on Android and iOS platforms.
